Disruptions to bus and train services

Information about disruption to public transport.


Train service disruption

Up-to-date information about disruption to train services is available from National Rail, which also has real-time departure information for all stations in Derbyshire.

East Midlands Railway, Cross Country Trains and Northern Railway also offer current information about problems with their services.

Bus service disruption

For details of disruption to bus services, please visit Traveline where summaries of disruption due to road closures or other emergencies are available.

The Traveline journey planner will also show details of changes to services resulting from road closures or diversions.

Most bus companies provide details of disruption to their services on their own websites, and some (including Arriva Midlands, Hulleys, TM Travel and Trentbarton) will also offer up-to-date information on Facebook during adverse weather.

During periods of disruption due to bad weather BBC Derby has information about travel difficulties.

Temporary change to bus stops in Matlock

Work on Bakewell Road to improve passenger boarding facilities at the bus stop will commence from Tuesday 14 May 2024. A list of the bus stopping arrangements during these works follows. The dates are approximate and will depend on weather and progress of the work.

From 14 May until 6 June 2024

Services will be accommodated only within the Bus Station or the Rail Interchange. Bakewell Road will not have any stops in either direction

Bus station:

  • stand 1: service 6.1 toward Middleton and Derby
  • stand 2: services 140, 141, 143, 143a commence and terminate
  • stand 3: services 63 and 172
  • stand 4: services 157, 158, 159, 160 and X17 to all destinations

Matlock interchange:

  • bay 1: service 6.1 towards Bakewell
  • bay 2: Transpeak service in both directions
  • bay 3: service 140

From 6 June until 14 June 2024

No services will serve the bus station.

Services 6.1 and Transpeak will serve a temporary stop outside the Trent bus garage on Bakewell Road.

Service X17 will serve Hall Leys Park stop toward Wirksworth and Matlock Iceland stop toward Chesterfield.

Services 63, 140, 141, 143, 157, 158, 159 will serve the existing stop outside Marks and Spencer.

Services 172 and 160 will serve a temporary stop outside the former Railway Public House car park.
