Recent changes to bus services

A summary of recent changes to bus services in Derbyshire, listed in date order, with the most recent first.

From Monday 13 May 2024

First South Yorkshire:

  • new service 120K: extension of current service 120 between Crystal Peaks and Fulwood via Royal Hallamshire Hospital and Sheffield, to Killamarsh and Norwood hourly on Monday to Saturday, partly replacing Hulleys services 80 and 80A. This extension is funded by the Derbyshire Bus Service Improvement Plan

From Sunday 12 May 2024

Hulleys:

  • service 272: revised timetable including withdrawal of 6.48pm journey from Castleton on Monday to Saturday. Timetable operated by First unchanged
  • service 55: minor timetable change to improve reliability
  • services 80, 80A, X80: withdrawn. The section between Holymoorside and the Royal Hospital, Calow replaced by new service 84 with similar level of service to the current service. The section between Royal Hospital, Calow and Crystal Peaks will be replaced by a new service 80 between Chesterfield and Killamarsh and new service 120K between Norwood, Killamarsh and Crystal Peaks both operated by First South Yorkshire with funding from the Derbyshire Bus Service Improvement Plan
  • service 84: new service replacing services 80 and 80A between the Royal Hospital and Holymoorside
  • service 170: the section via Old Brampton is reduced to every 2 hours. A new variant service 170C operates every 2 hours direct via Chatsworth Road
  • service 257: earlier morning and later evening journeys on Monday to Saturday and route changed to serve Royal Hallamshire Hospital. Sunday service unchanged

First South Yorkshire:

  • new service 80, funded by the Derbyshire Bus Service Improvement Plan, will provide an hourly service 7 days a week between Chesterfield and Killamarsh via the Royal Hospital, Brimington, Staveley, Renishaw and Norwood, partly replacing Hulleys services 80 and 80A

Stagecoach Chesterfield:

  • services 1, 1A: Terminus point on service 1 changed from Langwith Welfitt Grove to Whaley Thorns Turning Circle
  • services 48, 48A: timetable revised to improve punctuality. Back Lane and Wood Lane near Calow Green are no longer served
  • service 49: Timetable revised to improve punctuality
  • services 54, 54A: All evening journeys will operate as service 54A via Alma Road in North Wingfield
  • services 65, 65A, 66: Timetable revised to improve punctuality and route of 65 changed between Sheffield and Meadowhall and 65A changed between Brierlow Bar Bookstore and Harpur Hill. The bus will run along Heath View instead of the A515 and Heathfield Nook Road
  • services 90, 90A, 90B: minor timetable changes
  • service X17: Minor timetable changes and some journeys rerouted to serve Matlock Farm Park

High Peak:

  • service 190: revised timetable to improve reliability. First and last journeys extended to/from the depot in Dove Holes
  • services 441, 442: revised afternoon timetable to accommodate changes to service 190, including 2.10pm from Ashbourne no longer running via Harpur Hill but instead via the normal route from Burlow via the A515 to Buxton
  • Transpeak: early/late Monday to Friday journeys from Derby that terminate in Matlock will continue in service from the Interchange to Bakewell Road at the request of customers on board. No change to buses that continue north to Buxton. No changes on Saturday and Sunday

Ashbourne Little Bus:

  • new service A53: Leek to Buxton via Burbage and Winking Man on Sundays

From Saturday 11 May 2024

Arriva:

  • services 1A, 1C: to improve reliability will no longer serve Roundhouse Road (Railway Station East) but instead run straight along Pride Parkway. Passengers should use bus stops on Pride Parkway or at the front of the Station on Railway Terrace

Stagecoach Chesterfield:

  • new Daily Blue Peak Sightseer service: Chatsworth to Mam Tor Caverns via Baslow, Calver, Hathersage, Grindleford, Bamford and Castleton with links to Low Edges and Chesterfield at the beginning and end of the service day
  • new Daily Red Peak Sightseer circular service: Chatsworth back to Chatsworth via Bakewell, Ashford in the Water and Pilsley with links to Chesterfield at the beginning and end of the service day
