Emergency preparedness for flooding

We work in partnership with the emergency services, district and borough councils and the Environment Agency to ensure a co-ordinated response to flooding emergencies in Derbyshire.

We're committed to working closely with communities and parish councils to help improve personal and community resilience to flooding.

Under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, both the county and district and borough councils are designated as 'Category 1 Responders'.

Together with the emergency services we must carry out risk assessments of a range of hazards which could affect our county. Flooding is considered to be one of our highest risks.

Because the nature of emergency planning our response to flooding will always involve many agencies. Find more information in relation to flood risk and flood contingency planning from Derbyshire Prepared.
